Community coalitions meet monthly in various communities of the Northern Hills region. MAPP-SD assists these coalitions in their efforts as related to Meth use and manufacture and community education on these issues and the impact of the drug in our region.

The Northern Hills DEC team is working on books to place in each of the vehicles used by social workers at the Department of Social Services. These will contain the protocols, forms needed, etc. for any Meth-related incidents.  Any needed refresher training will be scheduled with DSS and area hospitals.

On January 14, 2009 the Northern Hills Prevention & Intervention Alliance will meet from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM in the Spearfish Ambulance building. This meeting is for anyone working within or interested in substance abuse issues in the Northern Hills region. The group meets quarterly to network, share ideas and programs, and to learn about regional trends and resources related to alcohol, tobacco and other drugs and violence prevention issues.
