Governor Rounds also signed HB1201 into
law. This bill extends state protection to abused or neglected
children who may be returned to homes with substance-abusing parents.
If the court determines that the abuse/neglect was related in any way to
substance use/abuse, the return of the child to the home will be subject
to the caregivers' submitting to tests. If the adult refuses or
tests positive, the child may be taken immediately from the home.
