- Lower Brule -
Community members and parents are invited to a Community Lunch & Learn
focusing on the dangers of Meth, as well as how to recognize the warning
signs if their teen or young adult child (or their friends) become
involved with Meth use. Practical strategies to not only intervene if use
is suspected, but also to help prevent use before it starts will also be
shared. The lunch begins at noon in the Lower Brule Tribal Administration
building.
18 – Fort Thompson Project SAFE and local law enforcement
sponsor a training for program staff and volunteers,
law enforcement officers and community
members to learn about the effects of Meth and how the effects contribute
to the problem of domestic violence. Safety information for those working
with individuals who may be under the influence of Meth will also be
included. The training starts at 2PM in the Ft. Thompson Police
Department.
19 – Rapid City
MAPP-SD will have a resource table at the Parent University event, with
information about the dangers of Meth and parents can do at all stages to
prevent drug and alcohol use (including Meth use), to recognize a problem
if one arises, and how they can help intervene if it becomes necessary.
The event will start at 5:30PM at the
General Beadle Elementary School.

Rapid City During the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology
Wellness Fair, MAPP-SD will have a resource table for students and staff
on the dangers of Meth use and Meth labs and how it can affect the rest of
the community, from housing safety to increased crimes and violence.

-Eagle Butte Counselors and staff of the Four Bands
Healing Center will hear the latest information on Meth use and its
effects, including implications for treatment of Meth users
